Site Services Engineer

Bury St Edmunds

£50,000 per annum


We are looking for a Site Services Engineer to work double day shifts for a manufacturing company based in Bury St Edmunds


The company are a family owned business that have been operating since the beginning of the 1800’s, supplying high quality food product worldwide and have recently added one of the UK’s number one brands to its portfolio, cementing its place as the number one expert in its field throughput Europe


As the Site Service Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring plant performance and proactively rectifing issues pertaining to those areas covered by the site services remit. You will need to understand and contribute to achieving company goals by efficiently carrying out assigned maintenance tasks using engineering skills of the highest level.


Job Role:

  • Maintenance of site facilities equipment (boilers /cooling towers / effluent plant / compressors / mechanical and electrical equipment etc.)

  • Provide technical feedback and analysis on daily issues as they arise.

  • Attend daily meetings as required and drive recommendations and action.

  • Carry out high level static and dynamic maintenance on all equipment.

  • Input into continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards at all times.

  • Assist the Engineering Manager when required with projects

  • Assist Engineering Manager to ensure site is fully compliant with Safety, Health and Environmental legislation.

  • Coordinate activities in cases of emergencies such as Fire Alarms or Chemical spillages

  • Communicate effectiveness of repairs

  • Communicate to site the impact of operational issues and carry out effective control to prevent further downstream failures (e.g., Control of trade effluent plant)


Skills Required:

  • Demonstrable experience in a technical Engineering environment (Mech/Elec/Inst) - essential

  • Engineering Qualification or Apprenticeship (electrical / mechanical or instrumentation) - essential

  • BOAS Trained or Theoretical understanding of How Steam Boilers Work – desirable

  • Use of CMMS - desirable

  • Previous experience within a Utilities Environment – desirable

  • Understanding of wastewater treatment plants - desirable

  • Maintenance and Installation of Equipment in Hazardous areas – desirable
